Weeping Sakura in Himuro Shrine (氷室神社) in Nara!

by

Himuro-jinja Shrine was built at the foot of Mt.Kasuga-yama at the time of transfer of Heijo Capital. It used to be in Tenri city next to Nara city. Himuro (literally ice house) is a shrine dedicated to the God of ice. In its festival, a pole made of ice which was packed with carps and breams inside is put in front of the God.

Yesterday me and my spouse went to Nara, our objective was to visit some famous world heritage sites and see some of the most beautiful Sakura blossoms. We were not to be disappointed, not only was a able to take some gorgeous shots, with my video camera I was able to take some breath taking footage! Amongst the shrines we visited were Tōshōdai-ji, Kasuga-taisha, Tōdai-ji, Kōfuku-ji and Himuro-jinja Shrine. Let the pictures speak for themselves, happy viewing and I hope you had the same memorable sakura viewing!
