Temple of the Mandarin Ducks: Ryōan-ji (龍安寺).

Last year during the autumn season, I visited the Ryōan-ji Temple (龍安寺) in the north of Kyoto. The temple is situated along a mountain range and is in walking distance of the Kinkaku-ji temple. The Monkey Shrine: Imahie Jingū!

During the autumn foliage of Novenber I visited a number of shrines and temples that are famous for their splendid colours. Gion Kaku in Higashiyama-Kyoto!

While visiting the Kodai-ji temple in the Higashiyama area of Kyoto is saw this quite different looking type of pagoda. It is the Daiun-in temple with the “Gion-kaku” tower (大雲院 祇園閣) dedicated to the famous warlord Oda Nobunaga and his eldest son Nobutada who committed seppuku in 1582 when Akechi forces betrayed the Oda, attacking Honno-ji and then Nijo castle.
